Zaineb Mahdi

Zaineb Mahdi joined GEMS Wellington International School, Dubai, in August 2017 as a Computer Science teacher, and the Head of Computer Science a year later. She then progressed to Assistant Headteacher, as well as the Wellington cluster lead of Innovation and Digital Technology. 

She started her career at a fantastic school in East London, England, in 2009, and enjoyed the creativity of teaching and loved exploring new classroom experiences to get the best out of her students as a teacher and pastoral lead. During her career, her passion for Computer Science grew as she delved into the world of coding and robotics. At WIS, we have a huge community of students who are interested in AI, Data Science, Robotics, and Coding. Student leadership is a huge strength at WIS, and she has enjoyed watching her students grow their ideas from planning to pitch/prototype. We have an excellent cohort of student entrepreneurs and is looking forward to supporting many more!

She loves sharing her passion with others and enjoys networking with other educators around the world. This year, she has featured on a few YouTube series, as well as spoken at the Middle East School Leadership conference, Middle East Edx Conference in Abu Dhabi, MENA Smart Campus Summit 2022, and the Outstanding Schools Conference, Dubai.
